Desperately Seeking - A Solutionby ltaylorComment: The clothes are a bit off the mark--they look more office lady than 80's teen (which is what seems to be the hoped for effect). The lighting is interesting but the only thing that really gives this an 80's feel to me is the Rubik's cube. |

Space Invadersby hotpastaComment: I had the same idea (red background shot through a cheese grater) but I rejected those shots. It seems like it would be very interesting but ultimately it doesn't make a visually compelling image (which is why I rejected my own version of this idea). Not terrible though. |

Flower And Shadowby posthumousComment: I like this quite a bit. It has that very personal, in the moment quality, of a photographer's vision that is what I enjoy about the art. This is the type of thing that would be nearly completely ignored, if not outright scorned, in a challenge. As someone who is drawn to this sort of subject (I am particularly fascinated with shadows) I understand this image. It reveals a curiosity about line, form, color, textures, etc. and the photographer's desire to simply capture it as he has seen it, without a lot of bells and whistles. Am I making myself clear? I'm not sure. I also like that it was taken with a film camera. |

Bit of the Irish in her.by BrennanOBComment: This is such a lovely, appealing portrait. This photo captures the fascinating beauty of redheads. The viewer first notices the striking hair but is immediately drawn in by her sparkling blue eyes. The freckles give this a playful quality and her direct gaze and hint of a smile make it special. |

My Lovelyby KonadorComment: Who is this in tribute to? It seems to me the name of the photographer who is being emmulated should appear somewhere in the title since that is part of the challenge. It's impossible for me to evaluate this in terms of the challenge guidelines since I am not a mind reader. On its own, you've captured nice sparkle and color in her eyes. I don't care for the extremely shallow DOF in combination with the blown out highlights. Frankly, I don't see the asthetic value of obscuring most of the subject's features. Most of her nose disappears into her face which is unsettling. |

Calla Lilies for Mapplethorpeby FranziskaLangComment: Lovely. I really like the light and the color is beautiful. Very evokotative of Mapplethorpe. And you chose someone I've actually heard of which is a plus. :D |

Sunset of Inspirationby kingduck777Comment: Who is the photographer this is supposed to be emmulating? The sky is very colorful but most of the photo looks dark and out of focus. |

Blimeyby MazkaComment: I'm sure it is difficult to capture a drably colored bird like this, camauflaged as she is in her environment. You succeeded nicely. |
