Nice shot, well composed for what it is, though a little cut off on the right side of the frame. I gave you a 6; was a little bit static for me, which is why it didn't make it into my 7+ range, though technically very well done.

Loved the lighting and sharpness, and the forms and for the most part the composition. Wished the P in ennsylvania wasn't cut off, and would have liked to have seen where those stairs led. Gave you a 6

Nice detail and B+W conversion, Les ... this was my favorite of the "wheel shots" in the challenge. Should have done much better than it did.

Interesting. Thought this was an IR shot during the challenge. Nice reaction to tough shooting conditions to add some interest to a difficult shot.

very cool, great blur and sharpness, and a fun take on the challenge. Surprised this didn't score better. Wait a minute, then again I'm not. That's DPC for you. :-P

What a great old engine, and the color treatment worked well to hide the lights ... I kept looking and looking to see if I could find them and I couldn't! Great subject, though I think this would have worked a bit better if you would have either chosen to go in much closer to focus in on some of the detail and the shapes and forms of the engine rather than the whole thing, or stepped back a bit farther to show us the whole engine and some of its surroundings.

Nicely different composition and scene. I like how you kept the one spike anchoring the frame in the lower left, and just enough of the station to give us context to follow the line back up the track. The off kilter frame works for me, only nit is I it could use just a tad more sharpness on the foreground rail, perhaps by shooting at f/16 or smaller rather than 5.6.

I liked how you composed this, the wide expanse of the land and the lonely engine off to the side, seeming abandoned as the ragged bushes grew up around it in the middle of nowhere, or so it seems. Nicely seen scene that should have done better in the challenge.

I like the tight crop -- its a bit different for this challenge, and worked well, particularly with the shallow DOF you used. My only nit is the headlamp cut down the middle. Shows a nice bit of detail of your train, and colors and sharpness are spot on.

nice motion blur, but no abstractness scores this poorly in this challenge. Beyond that, the lines in the background and the pnuematic hose curving in and out of the bottom edge hurt the composition. Needs a bit more midtone contrast and more detail in the blacks to really pop as a B+W. Nice try.
