Walk About1.jpgby MoatzComment: You look like you're ready to have some fun on your walkabout. Nice job controlling the exposure ... both you and the tree have great detail without the background snow being washed out. |

last bloomby PhotomouseComment: Wow -- beautiful shot with perfect use of DOF. Way to use those eyes in the back of your head! |

tennisby PhotomouseComment: Nicely composed image ... a smaller f-stop would probably have brought those foreground lines into focus, depending on the minimum focus distance of your lens, but nicely done anyway! |

Pod 5by ErikVComment: Nice sharp set of macros, with nice bokeh in the background. I think I like this one the best, with the snow on the pod and the nicely blurred grass blades in the background. Thanks for joining the walkabout! |

Macro Budsby BalkoComment: Tack sharp and a very nice background to set it off. This one really meets the spirit of the challenge for me, because its the kind of subject that can get lost among the brightly colored leaves and flowers, but has a nice quiet beauty all its own. Thanks for joining this month's walkabout! |

Up Into The Oaksby BalkoComment: I love upwards tree shots, and this is a nice one that shows off the contrasting colors and highlights the shape of the tree canopy very well. Nicely seen! |

I Spy...Popcornby Janae_CooperComment: Great idea ... but you got hammered by the speed voters. My daughters all loved the I Spy books when they were little. One thing about those books is that the set ups are pretty involved, and there's a lot to look at in the pictures other than the things you are trying to "spy." It looks like you spent some time finding things for your set up, but your shot ended up looking more like a quick snapshot of your kitchen junk drawer (c'mon, admit it, you know we all have them!) with some popcorn thrown in. A more careful set up with some attention to composition and storytelling (as in the I Spy books) would have scored much better. Even still, the colors and selection of junk are nice and the idea is fantastic. I think this should have scored much better than it did, and it got more 1s, 2s and 3s than it should have. |
