always on my mindby B74AComment: Nice moment - a little contrast work might have been more sympathetic to the skin tones, which seem overly pale and washed out here. |

Silent Nightby ArtanComment: Good capture of light, but I feel it might have been done with a touch more care. The composition is fine, and the balance of the direct and reflected light is as good as could be wished for, but there's a sense of a tilt to the image - real or imagined, it's enough to upset the eye, and there's a sense of lack of detail in some areas without the single area of perfect sharpness to make a point. |

Moonlight Sonataby jenesisComment: Oh that you might have moved your viewpoint to move the moon's reflection away from the boards ... or to hide it completely. A nice still image, but the over-exposure of the moon, and the ghosting of it, and, again, that reflection rather spoil the simplicity of it for me. |

Joy of Speedby gocComment: Great image - especially the umbrella. Processing is good too - and naturally, black and white is perfect for it. The package and the brolly make a nice adult vs childhood point. I like this. |

The Sax Manby APComment: The sharpness of the figure and the softness of other elements at the same distance gives this a strange non-photographic feeling: almost suggesting that you weren't confident of the composition alone to make your point. With thos background figures I can understand why. Tonality is good, although for me I would perhaps have preferred a slightly stronger contrast. |

echoes of lightby rhipsterComment: Don't like the lines breaking the border - especially the choice of an out-of-focus one to do it with: seems gratuitous and strange, and takes away from the photographic nature of the image and makes it about the framing of the presentation rather than the photograph. |

December Barnby JeniYComment: Nice shot, solid composition, good processing other than perhaps allowing the brightest part of the sky to go too far in the white - I appreciate the difficulty though. I wonder if you shot this RAW, and if you might have mixed a couple of exposures to calm down that extreme brightness ... |

The Thoroughbredby StagoleeComment: Fine image of the power of the animal - and perhaps the best mid-stride pose one can get, showing the full extension. I'd perhaps have preferred the exposure a little under this point - the whites are just blown, and and easing of the overall sense of brightness might give more tonal balance to the whole image. |

Christmas at Casa Rioby dleachComment: A remarkable scene, though i think you've perhaps over-exposed it, or perhaps rather not brought the overall brightness completely under control in processing - more dark to balance the brightness would help the impact of the shot. |

Impending Stormby 2mccsComment: Quite pretty - but just quite, to my eye. Could use more saturation, and possibly contrast in the foreground areas to give it some bite; and the sky lacks a little drama. That's in DPC terms, of course: I'd say this is a good honest (ie not over-dramatised in processing) photograph, and deserves to score better than it will. Do have a slight feeling that it might have benefitted from a touch of final sharpening for the presentation here - but that's almost just a matter of taste. |
