rose in b&wby shutterflyComment: Wonderful - looks almost like wood. Intense contrast, satisfying composition, real sense of weight and shape, and texture - albeit not an accurate texture, but what has that to do with anything? |

Chanel Endingsby CatherineComment: Very good on the powder, and the subtlety of the light is a joy. The low-contrast mood is perfect for this kind of reflective mood. |

The Ultraviolet Road Into Infinityby ArcyComment: cool rhythmic composition: really like the regression of this. Some sense of metallic smoothness, but it's really much more about that regression than about the sutfaces. Like it, but have reservations about it for this particular challenge. |

Textures in the waterby kuarkComment: Beautiful shot, excellent colours and sense of motion. Almost a metallic solidity to the water here, and the refraction of the weed through the water is fantastic. Not sure it genuinely represents texture, but it's so good anyway ... |

The Wicker Chairby goinskiingComment: Interesting sense of perspective, and some feel of a plastic texture. doesn't have anything to really grab my interst though, nothing to hold the eye. |

Florida Orangesby katlynComment: The colour is a touch muted for me - the ornage is quite geyed as I see it. Some sense of texture in that bag, but not much impression of the surfaces of the oranges. The composition is deceptively good though - at first i thought there was no reason for the cropping out fo the rest of teh bag, but actually there is a movememt through the scene here which is quite pleasing. |

Winter Freezeby alternaruleComment: Like this very much tonally - butthe colour is perhaps more the centre of attention here than the texture, which is somehwat muted I feel. Compositionally strong. |

Potpourriby tammyComment: real concentration on these textures - and a great complicated composition too. Excellent light, excellent exposure. We like this very much. |

Rotten Woodby cjavierComment: Good kind of subject for this challenge - i quite like both the contrast between the wood and the padlock, and the similarity between the wood and the rusted hasp. The light is perhaps too general to really illuminate the texture, but its present in the peeling of the paint and the rust on the hasp. |

Honey, I have some filing to doby Prof_FateComment: neat - but you need to look at your lighting - this angle is from pretty much the same direction as the camera, and that really gives you no chance whatsoever to see the texture nor to capture it photographically. The composition is quite strong basically, but the confusion of elements, and the lack of visible sense of surface really hurt this entry. |
