red-roseby o2bskatingComment: This is a good subject, and the choice of focal point seems just about right. My eyes always seem to go to the center of a flower in a photo, and that is where focus is in this one. |

Flags and Flowersby GermaineComment: Deliberately induced cool image too. I would probably never thought about moving the camera to get this. |

Autumn Budby MaryOComment: Marvelous diffused light makes this one work for me. I like the "easy on the eyes" colors too. |

Poppy!by pmichaudComment: The colors and detail in the red is pleasing in this one. The vignette helps keep the view coming back to the center of the photo. |

Telopea Speciosissima (Waratah)by jomariComment: It is interesting how all the cone shaped flowers are oriented "point up" toward the sky. A deep blue sky would kick this one up a couple of steps. |

reverse angleby StagoleeComment: I love the way this explodes into the photo from the right side. This has very nice use of the shade to maintain highlights in the bright blossoms.
If every one of those blossoms makes a grapefruit, that's going to be a heavy tree. |

Red Columbineby pmichaudComment: I'm always struck by the variety of colors and shapes of flowers. It seems impossible for there to be so many, and all different. The side light and colors are eye grabbing in this one. I like the drops of water that no one else has said anything about too.

Flamesby o2bskatingComment: We have some of the red and yellow ones here in my yard. This one has very nice mixed color. These are great for macro shooting. The direct sunlight is pretty hard looking, and at the same time it adds the shadows that bring out the shape of the flower. This is a good angle for the flower, but be thinking about what is lurking in the background when you are shooting. It helps if you can isolate your subject without any distracting elements in your photos by using point of view to control what's seen behind the subject. |
