Surreal and interesting. I think the shadow adds to this shot by adding even further depth. Clever take on the challenge; a visual pun.

Clever and fun. I like the play on words. With this low point of view, you are still able to communicate the squarness of the pie. I kind of wish it were all in focus, though, or that the DOF could be even more out of focus, except for one spot.

Colorful and engaging, this is almost like a celebration of pi's birthday! I wish the whole thing were in focus, though. i like the detail of the paper: nice touch.

Mountain Bike Mud Pi

A fun, graphic macro shot. I'm a little confused as to how, exactly this meets the pi challenge: if it is the roundness of the bike tire (pi deals with making circles as you know), it might be better to show us it circularity. The shocks and machinery of the bike also communicate pi in a subtle way: they kind of make up the symbol of pi. your sharpest focus is on the mud; I'm not sure if that is the most significant place to look. A lot of drama in this photo!

HI! Greetings from the Critique Club!

I'm sure you've read your comments below, and I agree with all of the compliments. It would appear that this excellent image perhaps did not comply with the challenge to some members. Too bad, because this is a fine image.

As I noted below, pet images don't usually thrill me unless creative and done exceptionally well, like yours. Through wonderful lighting and point of view, you've captured the essence of this cat very well. I think the extreme brightness of the white augments this view and enhances the idea that the cat is lounging around in the sun.

The point of view is unusual, creative and very effective at showing us the personality of this cat, and perhaps all cats. You also have very soft lines here, which add to the peacefulness and wonderful lazy feeling.

Exceptional work! Thanks for letting me look.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

As you've shown in your other photos, you have great skill at establishing mood, and you do that here. I'm sure you've read the comments below, and I concur with all of their compliments. The lighting and background you've used in this image establish a mood that, to me, take this object and turn it into a symbol of an entire culture perhaps. It becomes far more than a gourd in my view, as you've placed it in the center with an unearthly background. It certainly complies with the Symmetry Challenge, too.

It is a soft image with pleasing and engaging colors, lines and designs. All of these things add up to a very effective communication. I really enjoy how the designs almost blend into the gourd as if they are a part of it: your lighting, again, accomplishes this well. Someone noted the two white spots on the front of the gourd, and they are a tad distracting, but they also show us that you are following the rules, as they are easy to remove with spot editing!

The framing and cropping are superb, too. Thanks for a very well done image! Best of luck to you in the future!

Greetings from the Critique Club!

You have several comments below, and I agree with most of their ideas. More in depth: your image is creative and refreshing. The colors and tones you've created work well, and they certainly comply with the challenge.

When I look at your image, I see lemons and oranges in geometric shapes, and so my mind is transported past the fruits and to science and math, perhaps even how even fruit can stand as a symbol for the essence of the math and science all around us. I think this connection could be even more enhanced with more dramatic lighting, either direct or indirect to increase the mood and suggest that there is more here than just oranges and lemons.

Your cropping and positioning of the objects in your frame is well done; I'm glad that it's not exactly centered. The focus is just a bit off, when I think that sharpness is required here.

This is a fine image, and I'm happy to see some interesting and new ideas represented in this challenge.

Best of luck!

Here I see a fairly straightforward communication of what pi is and its function in calculating circles. To that end, it succeeds. It is a straightforward point of view, straightforward composition and focus, etc. If you want to go beyond the straightforward, perhaps some more mysterious or dramatic lighting may be in order, or perhaps a different perspective could show me even more about pi such as it's "essence" or even "spiritual" nature. Even just putting this in black and white might hint at such things, as color seems to play a very small role here. Good luck!

I wish it were a bit sharper, but I think that pi is very present here. You found an excellent object to communicate pi and extend even further into other geometry.

Good eye for pi! (hey that rhymes...). I see pi represented by the rails, and to this end this photo does what it sets out to do: show us the pi symbol. I wish it would take me further, though. Perhaps through lighting or different point of view you could take the next leap and show me that we can't escape pi or that some mysterious thing about pi makes it pervasive around us. But I'm going a weird direction. Sorry. I like this shot, especially the tones and grainy nature of it.
