This is such an awesome photo! I don't know if I'm the right person to critique it because I love it so much!
LIGHTING: Very good, but may have provided more interest with some shadows or shading. That's just being nit-picky though
CHALLENGE: About as rhythmic as you can get! I find it fascinating how you caught this without flaws disturbing the rhythm of the print.
SUBJECT: I like what you chose because it's unique. The earth color is absolutely GORGEOUS! The red tint makes it so interesting and fun to look at.
OVERALL: A really great photo that seems to go on forever. You should be proud of this one...I honestly can't think of much I would change. |

I was the last person to comment on this photo during the challenge, and now here I am critiqueing it! LOL!
LIGHTING: LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. Your lighting is downright perfect in my opinion.
SUBJECT: Simple, but so original all at the same time. It took some creativity to think this up, and I really love the overall look of it.
OVERALL: This was one of my favorites, so there really is nothing I would change. Maybe touch up the flash on the fork, but otherwise, this is a real attention-grabber, and still one of my favorites. |

Yellow Spirit on Axis ,,by migidiComment: CRITIQUE CLUB
Well, I was the last to leave a comment during the challenge, and now I get to critique it too! Lucky you! LOL!
LIGHTING: Very good, I love the shadows in the background and how the lighting falls on the actual pedals, leaving the stems in the shadows.
CHALLENGE: The only problem is the small amount of yellow here. It's there, but not intensely there, and that's what this challenge was being judged on. I don't think the lower score had to do with the photo, just the lack of yellow.
TECHNICAL: Everything appears to be right on in this picture. It all seems very crisp and nice to me.
OVERALL: A gorgeous print that would have scored much higher in another category. I also think people are getting a little tired of seeing flowers, because of the HUGE amount that are always entered in challenges. However, the top 2 were flowers, so that may just be opinion. Hope any of this helps??? |

As much as I would love to shed light on why this didn't do better, I don't know if I'll be much help because I really love this. I'll try to be a little nit-picky and see if I can help you out a bit.
LIGHTING: Brilliant, actually. Your lighting has no flaws at all...there is a tiny bit of "over-shine" that appears to be from a flash on the middle right. Again, that is just being nitpicky.
SUBJECT: Fascinating. I have never seen one of these before, so it definitely caught my eye and made me stare for a long time.
TECHNICAL: You obviously took a great deal of time making your technical settings perfect. There are no flaws there that I can see.
CHALLENGE: Definitely yellow enough, but the transformation to green may have thrown some people.
OVERALL: Okay, here is my honest opinion. If you look at the winners of yellow, they all caught very "yellow" moments. Most people equate yellow with warmth, serenity, and happiness. As interesting as this flower is, it's a bit harsh and earthy. As awesome as the shot is, it just doesn't "feel" yellow (warmth, etc). If you'll notice, there was a shot called "A yellow way to escape". Everything in that shot was perfect, but a noose doesn't necessarily give you a warm feeling. I think it was the same here. As gorgeous and well-thought out as this print is, I think it would do MUCH better in another category...especially one that evokes curiosity or interest. I don't think your score had anything to do with the photo, but more from the overall feeling of yellow....totally my opinion!!! |

I can honestly say this is a VERY eye-catching fun print to look at.
LIGHTING: Fabulous. I love the different tones your lighting created.
CHALLENGE: Definitely met the challenge.
SUBJECT: Cute and very unique. Like I said before, this is very eye catching and fun to look at.
TECHNICAL: Camera settings appear right on.
OVERALL: I know this is a short critique, but I don't see much I would change. I really do love the overall feel and look of this shot and I think you did an excellent job! Very creative, and one you should be proud of. |

Paper Clip Artby JackoComment: This is definitely stock photography, but it doesn't look like alot of thought or planning went into it. I'm not being negative, it just seems a little too simple. Just a thought, still a good photo. |

Goodbye world.by GeocideComment: The only thing distracting about this is it looks like she's going to overdose on vitamins? A prescription bottle would have worked better here I think. |
