His Despair Our Gainby VisionComment: CRITIQUE CLUB
Challenge: I think this met the challenge great from your perspective. Unfortuneately, there are alot of people who did not fully understand what the objects were, so they were a little confused. Maybe including a little more of the cross would have helped.
Technique: The colors here are gorgeous and I personally like the cropping with the white space. It's a creative approach, and obviously well-thought out. There may be just a little TOO much white space to the right.
Overall: A sensitive subject that was sure to get mixed reviews. It also has alot to do with the way people view the death of Christ - some would feel despair, some gratitude, some indifference. Being a Christian myself, I appreciate you going out there and trying this. |

Lost Trustby OneSweetSinComment: CRITIQUE CLUB
Challenge: Definitely meets the challenge. I think it would have been a little more compelling with a tear or maybe more jagged writing. Your writing looks so beautiful and "happy", not desperate. (that's a backwards compliment)
Technique: I love the angle and the cropping. The corner at the top is cropped, but the bottom is not, so it is a bit too off-centered. The black and white finish is great. This is a little blurry, which probably happened during resizing. You might want to sharpen your image before submitting next time.
Overall: A creative and good approach to this challenge. I'm sure many of us can relate to the despair of losing trust in a loved one. Thanks for sharing this wonderful image with all of us! |

Quiet Desperationby TarbiniComment: CRITIQUE CLUB:
Challenge: Definitely meets the challenge. The dog looks like he really does want out!
Technique: I love the tonal finish and the shadows in this shot. You might want to set your focus on the dog next time, as the sharp focus on the fence is a little distracting. (the bright light brings the eye to it, instead of to the dog)
Overall: A really great shot! I am very impressed and intrigued with the shadows and lighting. I think your focus is the only thing here that needs improving. |
