Week 1

You have started with a pretty challenging case to study! Lots of different angles to try to capture and highlight. The lighting on the top center of the bowl is pretty good but as a couple others have said, the light on the flat sections on top are a bit underexposed and does not match well the center. I wonder if some small reflectors to focus the light a bit more on those sections would be useful.

Spectacular details on this shot and lush green smooth background! I agree that the crop does seem a bit off (not enough behind the bird and too much on the bottom - the square crop seems to give this more of a static look.

a cute little guy! i agree on the composition...as you get more comfortable with the camera you should be able to get faster at moving the focus point with your thumb so you don't have to really think about it. The nifty 50 is a great little lens.
