Here, without the sky in the shot, the exposure is correct for the tree. I quite like this one.

Great job on the clouds. It's hard to get the cloudy sky and the ground in the same shot without using some sort of trickery like HDR or graduated neutral density filters, because there's too much contrast, and either the sky is going to be blown out or the ground blocked up. You made the right choice by going for the sky here.
