Yeah, I'll say double trouble. They look like they could be a handful. Nicely posed and lit. The kid on the right's hair is a bit overdone, but that's minor.

It's a nice, colorful, duck(?) portrait. I would usually mark down for an animal in a portrait challenge, but, frankly it's the best picture I've seen in the last 10 minutes.

I like the idea, with the bride in front, and the groom at a distance. That works well. I like the vignetting, but it might be a bit heavy handed. It was the first thing I noticed when the picture came up. One thing that would make this shot work better would be to take care of the heavy shadows on the bride, either by shooting at a different time of day, or by using a diffusion panel in between the bride and the sun.

It is a thoughtful portrait. You've gotten that to come across quite well. The colors are good, the model's expression is quite thoughtful. I'm not sure doing a high key background works with this model. There's a lot of contrast between the white background and the thick dark hair, and a lot of detail is lost in the hair, right in the middle of the frame. A darker background would allow you to expand the dynamic range in the midtones and shadows, and get more detail in the hair.

Lovely lighting, colors and expression. Quiet and peaceful. I think I would have either preferred more of her to be in focus, or for the eyes to be in focus instead of the lips and chin. But it's really a good portrait.

Wow, nice dress! Overall, I like it. The lighting on the model is nice. I think the image would have worked a little better if there had been a little light on the couch. As it is, it looks like the model's floating in space.

The Essence of Winter

Hi June, I'll admit I originally gave this a 5 but didn't comment. I do like the sparkly snow, and the delicate wave pattern in the snow, and I can appreciate how hard it was to get the exposure balanced. Unfortunately, the voters don't vote on how difficult an image was to produce. A couple of my best scores came when I put something on a table, shot 10 shots, picked the best one, cropped and adjusted the contrast. I've spent hours on other things that scored poorly.

I think on this shot I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be focusing on. My eye is drawn to the ice and plants, which has the most contrast, but isn't the most attractive part of the picture. Since I don't know what the rest of the scene looked like, I can't really second guess, but I think I would have tried to shoot from a different angle, maybe lower, and get more of the snow patterns, and less of the ice and dirt.

Yep, that's a circle all right. You'll get voted down for the gun, but I think the shot is refreshing, original, and well done. I might have tried to get a little more contrast onto the muzzle of the gun, so it stands out more, but that's a minor thing.
