Cool "Street" Jazz ;)by FocusPointComment: I like the idea here however I would have considered not desaturating the musician as well. The selective coloring helps separate the subject from the background but with him being desaturated as well it makes it seem like the subject is the shirt and the sax. Otherwise, well done and quite pleasing to look at. |

Dave On Any Sundayby ZeusComment: This shot is okay but I feel I need something to make me understand why you chose this subject. The title leads us a bit but we need something in the photograph to help us connect. Maybe a different angle? Maybe having more environment to put him in context? I'm not sure. |

Traveling Abroadby BHusemanComment: Greetings from the critique club!
Interesting take on the challenge. Its something many of us can relate to.
The shadows are a little harsh but not too bad. The power connector on the left looks weird though. A little oversharpened perhaps?
Other than that I really like this shot especially for it uniqueness |

The First Anniversaryby bassboneComment: Wow...almost got me crying. I like it but I have to wonder why you chose the to color the plastic wrap of the flowers. |

Last stopby marvinComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Great idea for this challenge. Without your description I would have sworn this was a shot of old train tracks.
Previous comments spoke about the contrast and the noise. I actually like it this way. The high contrast and noise gives its an old feeling and really helps to establish a mood.
Composition? I imagine that there is water just outside the frame of your shot so your options were likely limited if you wanted to keep it out of the shot. Again, I like it the way it is.
Overall? Really excellent entry. Keep up the good work. |

Where'd they go?by DelRioPhotoComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Excellent shot. Not a lot to really remark on to improve it. Playing with clouds, as suggested in one comment, might have improved the look of the clouds but I don't think it would discernibly change the overall impact of the picture.
Judging from some of the comments it would seem some believed the link to the challenge was a bit weak. I disagree myself but I can see where they are coming from. I think the biggest difference between your image and the shot that got third is the third place shot bopped the voter over the head with its relation to the challenge. Your shot, photographically, I would say is at least on par with it. At least in my opinion anyways... |

What is it, in the end, that truely matter?by CboydrunComment: Greetings from the critique club!
I think the general consensus is that this was a pretty neat idea. Despite what the one previous comment mentions most people would say this is creative. The other consensus however is that a different angle would help.
That aside, I see you mentioned you were stumped for ideas. Even though this was the first paper challenge there are a lot of "paper" pictures on this site. (Go under photos then search). Even Google can help. Not just by seeing pictures but reading about different related topics.
In the end this is still pretty good shot for your second entry. I'm sure we'll be seeing you improve over the weeks. |

Riv-thmby marboComment: I like this but I think you got too cutesy with the title.
That aside I like the IR. The clouds and the sky are quite striking. I like the shadows of the clouds you captured. |
