Good idea but the boy is too oof and I'm not liking the car in the upper left. Might be worth trying a reshoot where you have a boy such as this one "pose" as if he is smiling at the boys in the painting and not holding a plastic bag of soda cans but maybe a paper bag of something (popcorn maybe).

Not my idea of negative space. I see what you were going for though so I don't consider it dnmc. The fisherman which I believe is the intended subject isn't very clear though. I'm guessing you were trying to have the bg show his aloneness?

Acording to the title, the focus of your image is the ring in the middle of the rose and having it dead center of the image doesn't help imo. It also looks like the focus was clear on the bg but not on the subject (the ring and the rose). Possible ways to make this image better IMO is to have the crop more up and to the right so that the rose is even not all in the shot but so that the ring is in the lower left two thirds position and having more of the satiny bg in the shot. Having the ring more in focus would also help.
