This is such a good idea for a location. I just thing you let yourself down a bit. The blackness on the left top corner is very heavy. Would they not have looked up at you if you called out to them to catch their eyes?

I get what you were trying for: all the horizontals and lines moving across the image....but I find it just too busy. Maybe it's the fact that the arrow staffs are not running parallel to the base of the mage, while the rest of the upper lines are perfectly horizontal??? I would love to see what a tighter crop of foreground with expansive blue sky looks like?
