Sunrise Spectacular by andrewlrComment: ah yes. I knew this would do well. You should have gotten first, in my opinion, since I don't like when people re-use shots to win ribbons. I love the subdued colors and the composition and the subject, and everything. One of 4 tens I gave this week. It's now in my favorites. Keep it up. I need to go to Australia. |

Graffiti in the Sunby greenem2Comment: right on. good eye. i used to be a grafittie artist. i'd always rather see well composed shots of bad grafitti than shots of other people's work. one of the few 10's I gave this challenge. It is now being added to my favorites. |

Morning Butterflyby AntithesisComment: Greetings from the Critique Club:
This photo has a very interesting composition. I'm sure that the white border part on the side bothered a lot of viewers but I understand that you couldn't crop it out without also cropping the purple butterfly on the right as well. In some way I think it would have been better if you had included a bit more of it to make the composition a little more balanced. The colors are excellent. The focus looks a slight bit blurry but I have the feeling that was the subject itself and not your photography technique. I also see this as a plate, which doesn't really matter, but it's confusing me now that I know it's a coffee/tea cup, but whatever it is the artwork on it is really all you have to work with, therefore if people don't like it they aren't going to like the photo, which may be the biggest problem. Technically, there's not much wrong with it. The top and bottom seem a bit dark and there appears to be some dust and scratches, but again, I'm not sure if that is your lighting or the actual painting of the item. With a indoor macro challenge I think a large part of it is the subject that you choose. I thought this was a fine subject that inticed my mind into a nice warm spring that I'm more than ready for. Keep up the good work! Message edited by author 2003-04-10 13:03:44. |
