Critique by Silver Fox
Hi Tracy.
Wish it were the finished product, would love to see a photo of it.
I love looking at fresh built wooden things made by hand. Love the smell of the wood and the leftover chips, etc.

I'm looking up and your pattern is very interesting to look at, lots of lines running into each other to stop and then head out into other directions; but they eventually all lead into the middle where the leaded glass insert is going to be. Great idea. Great Abstract.
What's the overall size going to be?

You show good exposure and nice crisp focus so much so that I love looking at the wood grain and the colour on the sides of those 2/4's. They're beautiful. . . How many coats of finish do you have on them?

Tracy, I've got to be honest with you, you need to have this re critiqued by someone who is also a carpenter. We have a few guys who are photographers and carpenters and who would do a much better job than I could possibly do here. I just don't feel qualified to do this for you.

Your photograph certainly fits the Leading Lines Challenge, The Focus is Strong, You've got strong imagination with what you've come up with, your photo is nice and crisp and really brings the colour out of the wood, but I think this critique should go further than this, the way you've joined the wood together, I can't described that type of thing

will you contact me, and I can ask someone else to contact you and help finish this off who is a finisher carpenter?

Ed Dalton

Greetings Lili,
Critique by Silver Fox.

Lovely Black and White Photography.
I love this. Your egg is nice and white, but I can't hear your human laying the egg, my sound is not turned up high enough :} (my sense of humor)
I really like your lighting, and the posing of your human is absolutely terrific, the arms and hands are perfect and the open mouth I think is excellent. How many eggs does he lay on an average day? :} my humor again. . .
I cannot find anything technically wrong with your photograph!

This is a very creative, and in my humble thinking, an elegant image for this competition/challenge. The positioning of the egg and the model were excellent choices and make the shot what it is. . .

Lighting: the lighting creates the image and you made a good choice in choosing the black cloth as a background. There is a bit of sharp light reflection off the right elbow, that can't really be helped.

Camera: Good focus, Nice sharp image throughout.

Digital Processing. I believe that you made the egg whiter in the processing and good for you, it looks great and stands out well.

My opionion: Great job, great imagination for a difficult Challenge.

I liked the creativity that you came up with and you deserve the Congratulations of a job well done.
Finally: I don't understand why you scored so low, and I'm going to say only that people just don't appreciate fine art and can't laugh at themsselves any more, so ignore them and just keep shooting the good works that you are capable of doing. . .
Regards,
Ed

I can't seem to make any sense out of this at all. I can't distinguish the bridge from the rest of the scenery/rock formations. Came back to this 4 times and I finally see the bridge and the falls, it just seems to come all together as one piece of picture, hard to distinguish as parts of a scenery, almost as if you were hiding "waldo" on me. I've change you from a 3 to a six. Nice job,

Well, nice shot of an old bridge, but a shot head on would have done better, just too many branches in the way causing too much interference, would like to have seen some interior details.

I just love this picture of this bridge, but I would have taken a saw and cut that damn tree down with all the branches in the way, all it does is clutter up a nice photograph!!!
I like the reflections in the water, nice crisp red colors of the bridge, but all those damn branches.........

Hey, great night shot of that bridge! I really like the reflective lighting on the water from the shoreside lighting. You did a good job of getting this photograph. Congratulations!
