by sevilduvarciComment: Very cool use of the grain here - it creates a stunningly empty, depressing atmosphere. |

by sevilduvarciComment: I love this inside out. I think you've gotten me used to these borders...:) It works so well here. The vast expanses of black contrast the lake and sky so well... and then the perfect placing of the little house. Excellent photo. |

Power Strikeby Foolish IceComment: Oh come on, this deserved better! I can't stand it when nice images get dumped in the 5.5 range while not-so-good images get great scores. Oh well. :) |

Star Powerby jdannelsComment: Well, it made it to top twenty at least... I still think it belongs on the top ten! :) |

Power in these pewsby hotrollComment: Well, here's my two cents. :)
My first impression of the image was that it was out of focus. It's not really; but the arm of the closest pew is out of focus, and since it's a large and dominates much of the shot, it kind of messed up my whole initial reaction of the photo. Either cropping that first pew arm out might have helped, or if possible, a less shallow depth of field would have fixed that while you actually taking the photo.
Also, it looks really grainy! If it's possible, I would suggest lowering the ISO on your camera. Getting rid of the grain will also make the photo appear in better focus.
And last, the composition. It's really kind of confusing. Instead of leading my eye to a particular point, my eye akwardly wanders all over the place. For this particular shot, I would suggest choosing a whole different angle for the shot.
I hope this was helpful! :) |

Supermanby ChinabunComment: A neat capture! Some of the background elements are a little distracting - it would be nice if they weren't there. Perhaps you weren't in a situation where you were able to do that though. But I like the way this image portrays power - well done. |

Oneby WillSnapsComment: I really like the idea here, with the single light source. However, it creates some very strange shadows across the fist, so it's hard to make out exactly what it is. Also, either the quality isn't very good, or it might even be slightly out of focus... I can't quite tell, but the details are not very strong. But very neat idea! |
