Rhythm In Nature's Patterns

I imagine you are taking a beating on this one. Tree bark could work for this challenge. Perhaps losing the blownout portion on the right of the shot would better focus attention on the patterns in your subject. Also, the subject itself needs to be in good focus without a heavy reliance on unsharp. Further, I think you could really increase the impact (and thus the 'wow' factor) by presenting this in black and white. It might make the most out of the paterns/rhythm in the bark by highlighting the contrasts of light and shapes contained within.

Strange. I hope you spend more time on this subject using different approaches to lighting, because somewhere out thre is a magic combination of subject and light which would cause this shot to just lay me out. As it is, it meets the challenge and is certainly unique but it leaves my eyes asking for more.

Meets the challenge. I even like how the bare section of wall and pipe break up the rhythm of the rest of the shot. Wow factor? None. But I've been clicking through a lot worse on my way here.

Sorry, this just doesn't work for me. I like how the patterns of horizontal lines also form vertical lines, but the lighting and composition and processing are just not good imo.

I don't get a sense of rhythm in this shot. One subject on one leaf. Really the only repeating patterns are whats visible in portions of the surface of the leaf.

Nice way to capture a few different patterns with color, shape and geometry. The upper right corner suffers from some pretty bad haloing though.

Nice patterns, good composition. This concept is pretty played out, but you've done a decent job with it here. My personal preference would be a somewhat wider dof to get a bit more of the rings in focus but that's me, and I didn't take shot! Nicely done.

Some pretty severe noise in the (horrible 70's looking) green areas, and I'm not even a noise nazi.

Some very, very strong symmetry and repeating patterns in the main subject area there. Certainly grabs the challenge topic by the throat!

Hope you write some notes on this shot after the challenge, explaining what patterns in it give it a sense of rhythm because I just don't see it. If anything its almost devoid of rhythm because the clouds and colors are very soothing and the single plane seems to enhance a sense of calm and isolation.

Not sure what a heidelberg is, but it's neat how they turn purple when exposed to stronger light...
