Paper Clip Art
by Jacko

Comment:
As a photo buyer, I wouldn't want to see the text you've added. I know where I want to put text; you don't have to tell me. The border doesn't add anything and if I were laying out a magazine or annual report or textbook, I'd probably crop those out anyway. You've got a good concept here for a stock photo and the paper clips are quite sharp and well lit.

Pipe Dreams

Comment:
The teeth marks on the stem of this pipe detract from it. I would try reversing the focus so the bowl is in clear focus and the stem is out of focus. Might not work, but worth a try. Colors are nice and the white background is handled well.

A very sharp photo and this would be very good in some magazines. I can't tell what the background is --- that's probably good --- but I like the way the yellow dots lead your eye into the subject of the photo.

Impecable focus! I would have liked a catchlight in the eye on the right as there is in the eye on the left.

This is a nicely composed illustration although it is a bit grainy.

Emerald City

Nice skyline. Clouds in the sky would add depth to this photo. You might also try shooting a similar shot at twilight or even at night. Skylines of major cities can be a major part of a stock photographer's money-making portfolio so you've chosen a good subject. I'm not too keen on the "steel cage" at the left side of the photo. It breaks the view of the city and distracts the eye. I would try a slightly different viewpoint. The color of the light on the buildings is very nice.

As your title suggests, the right side could be used for text. However, one thing photo buyers are looking for is sharp images and this one isn't.

Think Globally

I would think that this would sell over and over again for illustrations ... textbooks, annual reports (probably better in color for that purpose), possibly magazine articles. Don't see this as a magazine cover image though because it isn't vertical and there isn't enough room to make it vertical while leaving room for a magazine masthead ... but that could be another photo in your stock library.

Nice framing with the tree. Your exposure is well balanced and, given the title, it seems to illustrate the one room schoolhouse. B&W does well on this image.

Good composition with the reflection. I wonder what the phot would look like when the water was perfectly still. Might be a nice image, too. You've gotten a good exposure and the focus seems very sharp. The image has a quality which makes it seem as if it's a painting and that may keep it from selling well in the stock field.
