the white horseby posthumousComment: Wow. GREAT processing! Those clouds went from ho-hum to "YOU'RE IN BIG TROUBLE." Just would've titled it something more like "Uh oh." ;) |

The Sapling by BradComment: This is as close to a perfect shot as I've ever seen. The combination of youthful hope, the optimism of watering that small tree, and the birdhouse waiting to be put up. Just spectacular.
It also resonates with me personally. We have two small trees in our front yard: a dogwood we planted at about 6' high that 10 years later that's now twice as high and a "volunteer" japanese maple that planted itself and was so small I used to joke about not mowing it over. It's now about 4 feet high.
When I think about how to tell a story with a photo, this will be my model! |

Modern Day Heroineby BradComment: Hmmm. First, let me say I think it's great you wanted to, and did, immortalize Ginger this way.
But I got much more out of the shot after reading your notes. Sometimes I wish we could have a challenge where the photo is combined with the notes to tell a story.
Strictly as a photo, I wasn't quite sure what her uniform meant since it's not the classic "nurse white." And, of course, I had no idea of her specialty.
I wonder if this would've done better with a less-busy background and maybe showing her with some of the equipment she uses? |

Natural Shadesby BradComment: It's a beautiful shot. I'm guessing it didn't do better just because there were a lot like it. But what do I know? My favorites rarely do well. |

What "STAY OUT" sign ??by BradComment: I regularly shake my head in dismay at the stupid things people do in the outdoors. This reminds me of a couple I passed on my way off a mountain during a snowstorm. My friend and I were fully dressed: long undies, sweater, parks, boots, and ice ax. They were wearing jeans, a sweatshirt, and dock shoes.
So I think you nailed it! :) |

Connectedby BradComment: I'm rarely surprised by scores, but I am by this one. Easily a 6 or 7 in my book. |

delusionby whiteroomComment: Ha! The two of them are in such perfect opposition, as if neither of them is remotely aware the other one's going the other way. |
