| 07/25/2006 01:27:13 PM | Tranquillity of Natureby BrianRComment: Great job! The colors in the sky and how it's reflected in the water is very nice. Nice movement in the sky as well. The sand creates a feeling of expansiveness - of openness and solitude. Although there are hints that something has been there through the marks on the sand. The tree stands very nicely in this photo. Not quite as exciting as some of the other photos in this challenge, but I do appreciate you meeting the challenge without making me have to try to figure out if you met the theme or not. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 07/25/2006 01:24:20 PM | A moment in timeby KelliComment: Great job! I love shots of children. This one is executed perfectly. There is great clarity, and the background of the water, and foreground of the sand almost drift away and become non-existant when focusing on the little boy. He really stands out from his environment visually speaking. I'm raising my vote on this one from what I originally gave you, based on the fact that you met the challenge without leaving the voter to have to figure it out. This deserves a score for it's technical merit and overall beauty of the shot. Giving it an 8. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 07/25/2006 01:16:56 PM | Washed Ashoreby BlackNewfsComment: Great job! I loved the reflection in the water, and this was a very original presentation in this challenge. I don't think there were any other starfish shots in this challenge. Thank you for your originality, it helps make it easier to get through all of the other beach shots when they don't all look alike. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 07/25/2006 01:11:33 PM | The Reflected Kissby madsurferComment: Great job! What an interesting subject and great idea! However, in regard to meeting the theme, it's hard to tell what this has to do with a beach. This could be a body of water anywhere, and in my eyes, just because there is water, and even sometimes a shoreline, doesn't mean that it has anything to do with a 'beach'. Specifically, I see a sky and couple and grass reflected in water. But for all I know, that could be a puddle. For that, I'm kicking this score back from my original score. Meeting the challenge, to me, is the first and most important thing, if that isn't done, then anything else is unimportant. Doesn't mean it's not a beautiful and creative shot, because in this case, it absolutely is! I do love it! I went back and forth on how to score your pic, but I do vote low for those that I don't think meet the challenge, so to be consistant, I am voting this lower than I want for the reasons stated above. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 07/25/2006 01:06:37 PM | Crustaceous Remainsby ShutterPugComment: Great job! I love the clarity and movement in the water closest to the crab leg.. I loved the color of the sand, and it's hint at the moisture stored therein. It meets the theme of the challenge perfectly! I'm voting it a 6 just because it's not a very interesting shot overall. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 07/25/2006 01:05:02 PM | Can You Hear The Ocean?by boxImmortalComment: Great job! I see a bit of graininess in the sky and water, and around the edge of the shell. Although this is a very nicely executed shot, and the colors are extraordinary, I'm knocking it lower than I wanted to because of the artifacting. You did meet the challenge perfectly however, as some people seem to think that because they have a water or shoreline pic, that it equates to a beach theme. In my eyes, they do not. However, yours is truly meeting the theme, which I appreciate the most. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 07/25/2006 01:01:01 PM | A dune with a viewby RussComment: Great job! I can feel the powdery sand between my toes! I liked the perspective in this shot, it's as though the camera was strapped to a foot walking this path. I loved the feel of the previous person's footsteps cut out in the sand, the shadows of the blades of the grass. The colors all throughout this photo are nicely done. I am giving this a 7 because it perfectly meets the challenge. So many people in this challenge have not effectively met the theme, as in my opinion, water and shoreline does not always equal 'beach'. Yours is true to the theme, is interesting, and deserves technical merit. Way to go! | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 07/25/2006 12:56:18 PM | Red, white & blueby Arti-ElviComment: Great job! I love the hint of patriotism in this photo. This also has a bit of whimsy to it, which I love. I love the deep colors and shadows, but just a tad dark in my opinion. Above average, giving this a final 6 for meeting the challenge so well. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 07/25/2006 12:55:48 PM | My Backyardby ChasSourekComment: Great job! Have an extra chair? I went back and forth on how I wanted to score this one. Although it's pretty straight forward, not alot of fancy techniques showing through this one, I loved the clarity in it, the foreground has great use of color and technical merit. The distant part of the photo has great use of color. I originally was only giving this a 6 because it didn't compare with some of the 'fancier' shots out there in this challenge, but I'm raising my score, giving it a final 9 because there is something to be said for being straightforward, being simple, and meeting the challenge PERFECTLY. What some people failed to realize in this challenge, is that a water pic or a shoreline pic does not always make a beach theme. Your photo truly does that, in it's most simple and whimsical form. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 07/25/2006 12:52:30 PM | The End of the Dayby tinky2Comment: Great job! Very nice photo, although it's something I feel I've seen a million and one times. For what it is though, you did a great job of creating a sense of peace and tranquility, and the use of color is wonderful! It's hard to tell where the 'beach' part comes in, as I feel strongly that a water or shoreline pic does not always signify beach. But since it's dark out in this photo, and it's hard to tell, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, and score you a 7 for meeting the challenge, and for technical merit. What knocked you, in my eyes, was lack of originality in comparison with many of the other entries. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
