Just looking through, I'm pretty sure you don't need my advice ;-) Lighting looks nice as does the pose.

I do have to agree I'm not fond of the background, perhaps if it were a bit out of focus.

Andi, really the only changes I think I would make to this shot is to try to lighten the eyes and perhaps lighten the mid-tones a bit. Otherwise, I don't think it really needs a lot of advanced editing.

A like the shot a lot. But would make a few changes.

I would crop the post to the right of the image, first off. It's a bit distracting.

As far as the B&W conversion goes, it is a bit flat. In levels or curves adjustments, you can jack up your whites and blacks a bit and will see a major improvement in the look of the shot.
