Cinco de Mayo Dancersby
alexjackComment: Greetings from Critique Club
Hi my name is Leroy. I am here in response to your request for an indepth critique of this photo.
First Reaction (the most important one)
Ooooh pretty. :-) Then my eye starts getting confused.
Lighting
Lighting looks good. It's rather nondescript, but flattering for the subject.
Composition
Here's where it's falling apart for me and it's more of a function of Dof than placement in the frame. The DoF is a bit too deep, letting the trees in the background distract me.
Focus and other Technicals
Looks good, although I think shutter speed should have been a bit faster. A few of the feathers are a tad blurred. Also this would have allowed your Dof to be more shallow.
Meeting the Challenge
I think so, but as one of your commenters said, perhaps a bit of the dancer would have been good.
Conclusion
I like the photo. I don't love it, but I think it has potential.
This critique is strictly my opinion based on observations of this photo. If you have any questions feel free to contact me through the DPC PM system.
