Nice composition that appears to be a bit overly post-processed, but I like it nonetheless. Focus could also be more crisp.

I think the grain, extreme harsh lighting and blue toning of this image really support and give credence to the intense, desperate and sad expression of your young model, all contribuiting to a very cogent image for this challenge. He appears almost to be a poster-child for some cause or disease. Well done.

I love the framing with the vivid colors, geometric shapes and interesting perspective through the tunnel/tube here, but all this does'nt say desolatioin to me, especially with the feigned pose of your young subject, who I just can't believe to have feelings of desolation.

I like the composition, although I'm not sure it says desloation to me. I do, however, find your lighting to be way too harsh as it obscures the main subject, the sewing machine, with glare to it's body, which blocks interesting detail, as well as, the shadow cast on the background, which confuses it's shape. I don't see any evidence that this machine has not been used in a while, unless your intention was to achieve that effect with the high grain image you've acheived.

I like the shadow and the expression on the subjects face is effective, but find the soft focus for this much of a close up to be distracting. In addition, I think I would have liked different lighting, maybe a darker key...this is just too bright.

I like the concept here and like the high key brightness, but find it to be a little overexposed in the lower left corner. Also, I think you should have used white string to support the pencil to camoflouge it better.

I like the metallic color and texture you've captured here, but I don't find the image to emphasize right angles.

To me, this is a bothersome picture because it appears that these wooden structures are so close together that the runner is going to slam into one of them...probably cause you've flattened out the image using a high telephoto lense. I would have preferred to see this picture with a normal focal length. I do however, like the way you've captured the runner in midstride.

If not for the blown out highlights I think this image would finish very high. Very sexy picture and good composition. I like the graininess as well. I can't tell yet about the sepia toning because of the overexposure, but I think it may work to give a certain mood with the French doors although I think your beautiful model should be clad with a long and flowing see through night gown that is being blown by the wind. Also, I don't like the way she has one leg in light and the other in shadow.

A very compelling image. At first glance, I didn't like it, and was ready to score it low...but I left it for a while, went to sleep, and came back with a fresh outlook, and now like it very much! It's grainy appearance works quite well in giving the structure an old, ancient and possibly decaying look that gives the impression of history and antiquity.

Compositionally, I initially felt frustrated at not being able to see the entire structure, but now I like your angle-of-view and the way the right-angle aspect of the challenge comes right "in-your-face" on the left side of the picture giving emphasis to the statue-head. With the stark grey sky and bird above, there is good balance, and even with a dull and blown out sky, the tonal contrasts between the structure (I'm going to guess it's a mausoleum) and sky work well.

The feeling I get from this image is mystical or mythological, as if the bird is an omen to the soothsayers, or prophets, from the gods above (my own whimsical interpretation). I like the way you've captured the position of the bird which gives the image a feeling of mystery. The lighting, while harsh, also adds credence and cohesiveness to the picture giving the impression of extreme conditions, such as strong winds, emotions, or issues.

Technically, I think the photo has probably been overly post-processed (in contrast, brightness and maybe levels) from the original, but makes for a good artistic interpretation on your part. The B&W rendition is perfect but I would also like to see it monotoned with a very light green or gold. Good job!
