Piercing Glareby xcharrierComment: Although casting the eyes in orange is an excellent idea and it works very well the overall orange hue to the rest of this portrait is just too much and overwhelms the image. This would be better if it were not orange or if only the eyes were orange. The feeling I get when viewing this image is that it was made orange simply to meet the challenge. Every image should stand alone on its own merit independent of the challenge it is entered in. |

orange lightby middelboschComment: You have a very beautiful young model and you captured a good expression and it has good tonal range. But if I did not know what the challenge is and looked at this image I would ask myself why you made it orange. An image must always stand on its own merit independent of the challenge in which it is entered. For me this would be a lot better if it were not orange. A different or detailess solid colored background (black, white, blue?) would also help it. |

spicy landscapeby miss parkerComment: The concept is excellent. The color contrasts of blue, yellow, green and reddish orange are very nice choices for this image. Generally it is too soft focused for my taste and could use a little noise reduction in the sky. The general overall lower quality of the image hurts it. |

White Nightby LouisonComment: This image perfectly conveys the solitude of that place and time. Very subtle greys. It is both soft with crisp detail at the same time. Amazing. Technically superior image. One of my top three choices for the challenge. Great job! |

Parallel Universeby cabaComment: Frank, This interesting shot was one of my top three picks for this challenge. Great photograph. You didn't get a ribbon but 5th ain't bad at all.
I see you are from Edmonds, WA. I am originally from the Pacific Northwest and am very curious what that is supposed to be and where it is located. |

To the Stars by PaulkComment: Paul... This image is well deserving of the blue ribbon. I was not in disagreement with the group when I made it one of my top three picks. Kudos to you and your great work and congrats on a second blue. |

Longing For The West Coast by muur88Comment: Matt... Congrats on your first ribbon for a very deserving image. Yours was one of my top three picks for this challenge. The strength of it is in the clarity and definition of the sun and the nice reflections of the parallel posts in the water. An excellent capture all the way around. Juliaby tfaustComment: Very nice Julia image. The clarity, especially rock solid on the eyes makes this an outstanding image. Good use of DOF. There is some distraction because of the haloing on the back wing and the overexposure on the sunny front of the flower. Overall it is a great butterfly shot. |
