Gleetings flom the clitique crub :-)

Gudday Matt. Sorry but you're going to have to live with my critique on your pic now so brace yourself.

This is a very good photo, the quality of which I would expect from you. It did well in the challenge, 28th place out of 248 entries is something to be proud of considering the amount of choice entries in the transportation challenge. Congratulations!

The heavy flourescent lighting effect which is invariably caused from shooting at long shutter speeds at night has created a fantastic effect. The shutter speed you chose, 13 seconds was the maximum you could have used, maybe 11 or 12 would have been better as you can see the lighting just starting to blow out on the driver's door. (whoops, you're in Britain, I mean the passenger's door then!)

The raindrops only add to the effect, even though they give the impression(as Jacko commented) of sandpaper. The color mix is what really works here, the yellows and the blues together make this image pleasant to look at. The windscreen being the same color as the sky fits in well.

I find the composition/cropping ideal, I don't think changing anything there would have had much more effect. Maybe including the full headlight might have done something, but my opinion it is a top shot just as it is.

Okay Matt? Helpful? If not call my lawyer.

Kiwi

Looks kind of like candy :-) Nice colors and detail. What is that in the middle? A leaf?

By the look for the buildings in the background I guess this is a church window right? Good example for the glass challenge, everything is in focus. Good luck.

This is very abstract for sure. The blue and purple work well together. How did you manage to achieve a dead white background like that?

EJ, I think the random photo disher outer likes giving me your pics to critique :-) So here goes number three from me.

The first thought that hit me when I looked at this pic is the serenity of the scene. The water is dead flat, no one to be seen anywhere and the sunrise going through its phases in the background.

Contrary to what you wrote in your description I think the sunrise is awesome enough. I think more clouds would only have darkened the image too much and dampened the effect you have captured here. The photo is on the darker side, especially where the boat is concerned but I don't find this a negative point.

It does seem a little tight to me though. I am not sure you had the possibility but I would have tried stepping back a few steps to get more of the boat into the image. You could have also done this by using a landscape format, although I don't think you would have captured the total impact of sky and water with the same effect as you have here.

Congratualtions on another fine photo and am looking forward to seeing (and critiquing) more of your work.

Very colorful and glassy :-) The refraction in the lower part of the glass creates a nice effect. I'm not too sure about the background you chose tho.

How did you get those glasses to balance like that? Did you put something under the bottoms to support them? What a good idea I like it, if only it were a little sharper it would be a top shot.

Hiya Matt. First up I gotta say that you sure made a good investment in your 10D cos ever since you have had it your scores have stayed constantly up in the clouds.

Congratulations of 5th place with your multi image shot. I like the idea you have chosen for your photo. It is very original and you carried it out well to create a photo which is a pleasure to look at. It tells me a story and I can relate each photo easily to the next one. The decision to take each three shots from different perspectives adds so much more to the charachter of the whole image. I just hope you didn't stay up there for the whole three hours of photoshooting!

The middle photo is really the masterpiece shot of this composition and would surely have ribboned in the bridge contest as a stand alone pic.

Keep up the good work Matt, I have a funny feeling we're gonna see some pretty good stuff from you now you've got that killer camera of yours.
