The Long Defeatby DrAchooComment: Terrific shot. Don't know what people are looking for, but for my taste, less plastic, more texture and perhaps a little less saturation/contrast...
I can see that the 'total' silhouette effect is deliberate. YOu would probably have to be very clever to light the skeleton for texture while not losing that effect. Just a thought.
Hey, my picture's good too, and I didn't get anywhere near 33rd :) |

Gray day by DjabordjaborComment: Could be I'm just looking for excuses to mark down Icelandic pictures, but the sea and sky are not as grey as you have made them here. Maybe they are, but it doesn't look that way, so...
That's a shame, because the picture as a whole benefits from being monochromatic. |

Onion on Woodby posthumousComment: Does this leave the good ship suck without a captain?
It's a canvas of a shot - all those things like cropping and balance-within-the-frame and such that I prefer to see than name, are seen and don't need to be named.
This should not have succeeded here as there are # no large fields of primary colour # no hyper-saturation # no unbroken areas without texture to set off the subject. There's hope for us yet.
You might say the understatement sets it off.
Well did. |

Hashi Hissuby DefyTimeComment: This is a magnificent shot of a bit of food - pin-sharp close-up with bold colours and all. All those fives and sixes must mean a lot of people saw this as an honest interpretation of the challenge but nothing to write home about. Some of the winners were 'more abstract', but I'd find it hard to justify others for being so far above this.
Holding it in chopsticks with a bokeh background might have got you something - at least a steady hand badge. |

JIBby STEINRComment: It's the lines that make sailing shots work (otherwise they're static). I doubt that I'll be voting on this challenge, so it's just for the comment, because I enjoyed seeing this. |

Neuf Pélicansby UNCLEBROComment: Oui, neuf. Take 1/8 from the bottom and 1/3 (1/4) from the left - decentralise the lighthouse. Beautiful sky. Un littoral vif. |
