Check the divergent lines of the two lamp posts in the foreground. That fisheye effect may be exacerbating the skewed horison problem. Don't know. You needed the wide angle to get the scene. You did well to capture it without a tripod.

Fantastic picture. Got more votes than mine, which is no big dig, but deserved to get more than most. Such is life, or such is dpc, but, fortunately, not life.

The next applicant for team suck membership has to pick and cut out an object or two from one of their own pics and paste it/them onto this. Or not.

Welcome to the misunderstood.

that brings new growth.

I just wanted the seasonal reference.

Lovely picture.

Turner/Constable foreground (beautiful texture). Tedious top third. Odd-looking building doesn't reward closer examination.

Steve Davidson is right on the money as far as I'm concerned. For the idea, concept and set-up this is worth all the votes in the world, but then it doesn't quite make it as a photograph. I think a darker (and preferably non-reflective?) background might have helped, to set off and contrast with the chrome and stainless steel - where light's reflected off the corkscrew it's the same colour and tone as the background material.

It's too good for 5.6, in many ways, but I can't say it's wrong. Really enjoyed the picture though.

The one thing that's definitely on one of the 'third crosshairs' is the man. It also seems that he is irrelevant to the picture as a whole. The way he echoes the sky though, and all the dynamic lines and the colours make for such a great picture that I have to give it at least 7 anyway. :)

I would give this less, for being so lopsided and half-empty (no doubt in order to comply to a perception of 'rule of thirds'), but the macro is too beautiful and the title too well done to go below 6

They survive the winter as imagoes - hibernating, really. That's why the ones you see in early spring all have tattered wings :)
