difference mode tryoutby krnodilComment: This is awesome, Karen! I love the look of the eyes and whiskers.
It's difficult to maintain the look of the original subject with this blending mode, but you've done it here. Nice! |

Basically Beautifulby DrAchooComment: Originally posted by jhess77: Strong eyes, a bit over exposed |
How is this overexposed?
Too many people on this site are scoring images based on some quasi-technical checklist, rather than viewing it for what it is: Art.
This is a gorgeous image with beautiful emotion and technique.
Oh, and the exposure is fine. |

Coldby anferhComment: The first thing I thought when I saw this was that you'll probably get plenty of comments about blown highlights. That'll be a shame, because it's exactly that whiteout that conveys the emotion of COLD. Wonderful capture, nice colours in the horses, and beautiful composition. If this doesn't score highly, I'll consider it one of the upsets of this challenge. |

The Valleyby jwillertonComment: Wow. As someone who hasn't been to this part of the world, you've done a great job of conveying to me what it looks like. The sky is stunning, from rich blues to warm and light oranges, with beautifully lit clouds. The sun and its flare help convey the emotion that you surely felt while you were there. The shadows play beautifully off the little plants, and the warm tones in the rocks in the foreground add to the scene perfectly.
Should anyone complain about the blown highlights in the sun, the dark shadows in the rock structure, or the lens flare, they are sadly missing this photograph for what it really is.
Excellent job! |

A Rock With A Viewby jonfrommkComment: Wow. That is one nasty looking bug.
Nonetheless, you've captured it perfectly. You've framed it in a way that makes me believe the bug is actually checking out the view (great title, by the way) and enjoying it!
Colours are great, contrast is excellent, and the sharpness is bang-on. Very well done. |
