poets profile/ larger then lifeby cutoutComment: your new style of working is really resonating with me greatly. the colours and tones in this one are simply gorgeous - rich and jewel-like. the awareness and use of negative space are superb, with the emptiness and subject balancing each other in perfect unevenness. the graininess works very well too, and the repetition of the man's profile, positive and negative, left and right, is wonderful. |

On The Cruelty Of Manby Adian00Comment: this image just grabbed me. the strong flash light works in this context, adding a harshness and unblinking gaze to the picture. the face of the man, with the makeup and tears, goes against society's traditional idea of a 'man', yet is obviously male. the composition works extremely well indeed, with the conjoining angles energising the whole piece. a highly charged and emotional shot. |

see no evilby jrmyrnsmComment: an intellectually fascinating shot, well composed and exposed. i think i do wish the tones were a little richer. what i do love is the perversity (for those who confuse perverse with pervert: perversity = contrariness: deliberate and stubborn unruliness and resistance to guidance or discipline) of covering the eyes in a portrait. that, plus the implications of pure/impure are very interesting. keeping pure from corrupting influences, or keeping the subject's corruption from escaping. nicely done. |

going homeby clangley50Comment: you know, just re-reading all the comments on this, i thought: those who don't know what this is are lucky, very lucky. those who do know instantaneously, the gut felt recognition of a shared, aw(e)ful (in both meanings of the word) experience. |

VROOOOMby grigrigirlComment: for some reason, this is deeply redolent of 1960s British films. or maybe 19802 films about England in the 60s. excellent. |

to boldly goby cutoutComment: two x-prizes in a row. cool. this, like the camera portrait, has a wonderful feeling of disturbed light and dark. the textures, the colours, the blur, all work together extremely well. this piece creates an emotional reaction, not just on an aesthetic level, but a visceral level as well. an image not to analyse but to embrace and experience. well done indeed. |
