This shot really makes the fire come alive. Great job. It would be interesting to see what it would look like with the entire bottom cropped off, so that there is only flame in the shot. (Not marking down for this at all, just saying it would be an interesting idea)

Border is simple and elegant. I like the fact that a tiny match produced such a large flame - it gives the flame a sense of power, and the flowing shape of the flame has a sense of grace.

Once at the Diamond a foul ball hit me on the head. I wasn't sitting anywhere close, either... and it bounced OFF my head and rolled away. (Yay, I can tell this story to someone online who actually knows where I mean! Yay Richmond!) So yeah... this might be a very odd picture to favorite but I am doing that because it reminds me of silly things like being bonked on the head. :-)

Wow... such a wonderful expression on the cat's face. It's just beautiful. Great colors as well. I love the sense of mystery that the blending into the black background creates. I think the soft focus works well because it adds to the mysterious feel, and the hairs are distinct enough - so it does not feel like anything is lacking in focus that needs to be focused, if that makes sense. I would maybe like it if cropped tighter on the left and bottom, but nevertheless it is a great image and it is going in my favorites!

The first thing that strikes me is that there is a large difference in texture between the left and right sides of the image, and that's what makes this picture so neat of course, except it changes too abruptly for my eyes. Other than that I love the colors, the contrast between plastic and peeling paint, and the overall feel/mood. Definitely very nice work.

I just LOVE the squiggley highlights. They lend the picture an abstract quality but it's definitely not abstract, and I love that type of blending. I think it is amazing how the duck in the top right is so close to the white highlight, and yet so much detail still is present in the shadows of the duck. The color of the water is amazing - such a calming shade of blue, which is fitting to the overall image. I also love the detail in the ripples of the water.

If I had to change something, I would change the middle highlight to be white instead of yellow. But actually, I don't know if that would help the image any. I think if you'd submitted this to the recent Zen challenge, it might have, but otherwise the yellow is definitely not a flaw.

(Since the squiggley highlights remind me of one of my images, could you return the comment for that one? The only editing was levels and desat. here :-) )

I think this is a good shot - you definitely achieved the white popping off the background as you desired. I agree that it could be improved upon but of course most photos can :-)
