Okay, I was trying my best to hold my tongue but I have just had it! Arrrgh!!! I personally think that it's totally valid to say "oh, you know, that picture looks kinda creepy and somewhat gross to me; I'd visually prefer a model that weighs more; - that's your opinion as a viewer of the shot. But saying "give the girl some food" is totally different and insulting.
I had a close friend in high school who was very thin and ate everything. I saw a person accuse her of having a disease she didn't have - not ask, caringly, if she had a problem she needed help with, but accuse in a very offensive manner. The person accusing was the one who had a problem.
You know what's really, truly ironic? The people making these stupid comments... well if you take a look at some of their self portraits, they're not the traditional "western society's view of beauty" themselves. What would you think if someone left a comment on your photo that "oh my gosh that's gross you have a problem, you should put a lock on your fridge"?
People's bodies are different and that does not automatically mean there is something wrong. |

At the riversideby oskarComment: Sometimes we do have taste! Really, there are an awful lot of shots here that are reflections, or lots of lights. You put together really pretty lights, colorful buildings, and a reflection that compliments instead of distracts. This is a great image and you should be proud of it. |
