The Call Of The Wild by jagarComment: A narrow escape, so very well captured, and a sideway glance which makes the image. B&W is excellent. Framing and choice of focal lenght make for an excellent perspective and tridimensionality in the background.
Excellent. |

london3by HawkinsTComment: It is actually very interesting to see these views at night and in Black&White, as most people will go for colour and daylight. One of the advantages of being busy entertaining the family during the day, I suppose :)

Sweetby IvyyComment: Nasty but sweet :)
I would have not grasped the concept by lookign at the photograph, perhaps because I couldn't tell what the food exactly was but I do like the concept now that I know. |

overshadowedby posthumousComment: Why did I assume he was a girl? My suspension of belief system is going autopilot more often than not :)
I loved this one, it actually says a lot. |

Family Treasureby mariucaComment: I liked the concept, theatrical and quite threatening :)
Personally, I would have found it even more effective if the long shadow echoed the shape of the two hugging figures, perhaps by letting a bit of light insinuating between them.

Alyssa Liesby MinsoPhotoComment: I think I have rarely seen such an effective concept development scoring so low, and surely not one scoring so low *because* of its effectiveness.
Any plan for the girl to take drama school?
Very well done, Joshua, congratulations! |

Great Expectationsby hahn23Comment: > That's a lot of low votes. I didn't think this was that bad.
And you shouldn't, as actually it isn't that bad at all. Sure, it is a snapshot, but it certainly portraits an idea of family quite effectively. Even without any title or challenge context to help me, I would have thought of family anyway. I think that, because of the kind of pose, many were reminded of some very typical studio photography images whch are normally taken with pretty effective lighting. So they scored it as they would score a botched studio shot rather than an ok, spontaneous snaphot. Had you taken this with natural light it would have probably attracted higher votes. I was surprised this scored so bad, honestly. Message edited by author 2011-12-07 05:37:00. |
