Up by taterbugComment: This is one stunning shot dude. I don't know why I've just seen this one but I'm glad I ran across it. The colors are so inviting I could stare at this for hours. So many things to see while looking over this wonderful image. Excellent job taterbug! |

[untitled]by PaulEComment: Greetings from the Critique Club Paul!
Congrats on your highest score and good placement in the challenge.
Overall I'd consider this to be a fine shot. The focus is dead on the face/eyes where you want it and your placement of the subject in the frame was nicely done. I also like the vertical portrait style rather than landscape for this one.
I can see by your camera settings that you were shooting under poor conditions. I think if the light would've cooperated to allow you to shut down the aperture to get more depth of field you'd have fared even better in the challenge. The background is great but the out of focus limb in front is a bit distracting. I realize that the limb isn't the main subject but it does grab my attention.
Like I said before, an overall good shot indeed.
Cheers - Phil |

SWAMP OF THE LIVING DEADby AlexSaberiComment: Good idea, nice photography and processing work indeed. The only things stopping me from giving a 10 here is the hand is a different color than the face and it looks just a bit unnatural on the tip of the forefinger. Overall the image is fantastic. 9 from me.
I loved you in "American Pie" also! |

Nativity Sceneby faeryComment: This is a fave in the challenge for me. Like another entry I saw, it speaks the proverbial "volumes". While you certainly didn't use the new rules - you didn't have to. Everything is so dramatic in this image, from the writing on the door facing to the curtains halfway hanging to the scar on dad's eyebrow, to the beautiful smiling mother with the unbuttoned pants holding her precious infant. This is definitely a harsh environment at it's finest (worst) and deserves a much better score than I'm sure it will get. Thank you for submitting such a powerful picture. |
