On Top of the Worldby JutildaComment: This is wonderful! Makes me smile just to look at it. Such a candid and tender moment. I'd love to see the original for this one... seems like it could have started as just your average snapshot, but was turned into a magical photo with your post processing. Congrats on your top 10! |

American Darlingby bvyComment: Great angle and I like the centered composition... I think if I were processing this, I might try just a tiny levels adjustment (or contrast boost), a bit of sharpening (but probably just for the hydrant, not the sidewalk), and maybe even to 'colorize' it to give it just a hint of a sepia tone. |

Poinsettia [outtake 1]by bvyComment: The shot you entered was definitely stronger in many ways than this one... better focus, nice glow in the color etc. But, the one thing that I think this shot has going for it is the way the light hits the leaf, causing the shadows to show the texture. |

Poinsettiaby bvyComment: Great closeup shot with a nice capture of the textures of the leaf. As another commenter noted, the focus falling off at the edges doesn't seem to help the shot for me. I think if I had any other suggestions, it would be to have tilted the leaf just a bit more clockwise, so that the main vein was more diagonal, but being careful not to make the most focused area going completely horizontal. Anyway, nice shot and congrats on your new PB! |

Involucreby aerogurlComment: I loved this in voting, and also thought of both Dax- and Ursula.... you've done a wonderful job of capturing the style you were after. Add to that the fact that you've done it with a reversed 50mm and not the 105mm on your wish list, and I'm even more impressed. Congrats on your top ten, and keep up the great work! :) |

A gift of nature by IreneMComment: What a great mix of textures... smooth, ridged, fluffy... great composition, and the water drop adds a nice focal point. Great lighting to show off the ridges in the feather and catch the tips of the fluffy parts. Very well done. |

Nuts to Yaby wardmacComment: Great texture, and the side lighting helps to bring that out even more. I think a slight levels adjustment here to brighten it up and a slight sharpen would help to make this stand out a bit more and deepen the textures. |

Pot Pourriby figaroComment: Now there are some textures! I can feel each small item just by looking at it. Nicely arranged so that you could get all of the textures in focus, but still use a shallow dof. Composition may be just a bit too centered for my tastes, but you definitely nailed the concept of the challenge. |
