Greetings from the Critique Club!

First Impression: A nice macro with good focus on the eyes. I like that you can still see a bit of detail on the legs. Nice lines with the branch and legs to fill out the photo, but I feel like the wings should be spread out on either side of the head... guess it was just the angle you took this at.

Looking Closer: The contrast is good here, and you definitely have a full range of black to white in the head, but the rest of the photo seems to lack... something as far as the tones. Looking at the photo you were copying, I can vaguely see the connection but it also seems a bit of a stretch. I don't know if adding the ID number of the copied photo in your title would have helped, or hurt. It certainly took a creative eye to find something within that photo to replicate!

Greetings from the Critique Club!

First Impression: I understand how the fence signifies the end of the space that someone can use, but the perspective here leaves me with a feeling of endlessness as the fence disappears into the distance. Interesting repetitive shapes in the waves and fence.

Looking Closer: It feels like you were going for the 'DPC look' that scores well here, but there is too much out of sync to really get that effect. The end of the wire on top of the fence, the different angles on the tops of the posts, overlapping fence, signs, and too much cluttering the smoothness of the water on the other side of the fence. The reflection of the posts and fence on the water is simply wonderful. I wonder if cropping the photo could help to really bring out that section and still portray the feeling of end. The darkness at the top adds a dark feeling which helps to signify the end, but I also feel like it's too much.

Overall, this scored well and even got a favorite! Not bad for your 4th challenge! Hope this was helpful. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

The processing on this one is just too evident for me. Would have been better to just use a shallow dof when it was taken to give a more natural look.

Ahh, I recognize this beauty! A wonderful shot with a whimsical and carefree feel, though she's so busy concentrating on the path ahead. Love the vibrant colors and shallow dof. A fantastic pick for the challenge.
