Hmm, 17 votes UNDER 4? LOL, gotta laugh! Very new looking buds, so think it meets the challenge fine, and I think it is a very well done photo, did not vote on it, probably would be in among the 85 if I had! Only thing it lacks to me is contrasting colors, and I understand that is the way it is, but just a little bit of red/blue/yellow or other color would have helped out quite a bit, IMO< only, we know!!! lol

Hi Carl, overall well done. I too see the "noise, graininess, artifacting" in the clouds, especially the left side of the photo. So that probably brought your score down a bit. Have not a clue how anyone could vote it under 4 though!! Wow, really do not understand voters, rules "suggest" strongly vote on fitting the challenge FIRST, then technicals. Oh well, still a good image!!

Well, not to beat a dead horse, but to me, also, does not convey "old"! Even the skull looks to be a Halloween decoration - rather than a real skull. Not saying it IS, just appears so, maybe due to the soft texture of your photo! Hope this helps a little, anyway!

Like the macro, only suggestion I have to try to improve this type of shot is to maybe lengthen the dof a little, to sharpen the bottom of his right eye and chin! Overall, excellent image.
