A. F. & G.by carodaniComment: *Critique Club*
Ok I saw this during voting and was just waiting to find out what A. F. & G. meant, but I guess it will always be unexplained... must be a conspiracy. This a great photo and a very well deserved Top 20. I think the best thing about the image is the DOF. I love the shadowing used in the foreground, and the blur in the background. I think the pink defiantly define the background person as a girl which I think was key in this image. Ok looking at the image really makes me wonder are these real people? There sure is a plastic look to them especially the guy on the left. This is just a great image, I really don't see any area for improvement. I know there has been a comment or too about more focus, but I think it would take away from the subject. Great Job! |

Wow New Jersey, I don't think any of the voters guessed (I know I didn't). This is an amazing shot. I think the coloring is my favorite. The brown just demands attention, how often do you see a backdrop that looks like this. The is a wonderful contrast between the foreground and the background really bringing the image to life. I really do not see anything that could be improved on the photo. I did read your post about the eye and that is freaky. I think your placement was fairly decent, I think voters were probably just looking for crazy conspiracy ideas, like aliens and such. Excellent job! |

This is a very interesting bubble, really draws the voter into the image. I think you placed very well because you defiantly completed the subject in a wonderful matter. I am extremely glad you used a black background for the shot. I really do like the placement of the bubble and I am glad you did not crop the image just to fit the bubble, I think it really would have altered the image. I, personally unlike some voters love the drip on the bottom. The drip has to be there, it wouldn't be able to be a bubble with out it. I think it would be physical impossible to have a bubble, unless it was fake with out liquid formed on the heavy side. This is an excellent capture, especially for tricky subject that moves and can often times be blurred in the shot. The reflections of the colors are beautiful, there is no trace of a photographer in the reflection or any surrounding objects. Great job! |

He was no match for them....by marklovellComment: *Critique Club*
Oh I am so lucky I got your photo, this was my favorite! What an awesome setup, I am sure for the time and effort you must be proud of such a photo. The men are absolutely the best part, I love the time you spent. I think a few voters probably would have voted higher if maybe you used a lighter colored lighter because it would have been more apparent. That's probably the biggest downfall is people missed what was in the jail. I like that you used like a spot light to cast the shadows inside the jail, and even the shadows for the men. The ship was a little distracting on the box, maybe it means something and I am just missing the point. Maybe this is a biast critique but I just love the work you did on this piece. Excellent job, of course I think you should have scored higher. |

Ok I will tell the truth at first I was like ok a tree where's the conspiracy, but then I looked again and wow it just popped out at me! Excellent idea! The photo itself is very interesting. It seems like the whiteness on the branches is a little too strong but I could see if you did that to fit with the tower better. This really is a great idea, and I bet if people spent the time to figure out what was before them they would have voted higher. I would like to have seen the image cropped down just a little the sky looks overwhelming to me. Maybe if the image was brought in a bit voters would have been able to see the tower and recognize it at first look. |

Releasing Tensionby karmatComment: *Critique Club*
Congrats on breaking through the 5. The title is my favorite part. I was not sure at first what the image was, but after thinking about I really do like the image. I am wondering if many voters did not understand what the image was of. This was really a great idea. I would be curious to see it in color. What seems a little odd, is in the photo how the bottom bubble blower is almost shaped out of the pile of bubbles. I think this image was a very good try at the bubble contest and probably misunderstood. I really like how gel like the bubbles in the pile appear. There is not much I could say to improve the photo but to try and draw the voter in a little more. Maybe by having a bubble (a little bigger and more recognizable) coming out of one of the wands, but maybe that is not what you were going for. |

Awesome job explaining what you did. I love when I photographer shares how they were able to create something. It is really interesting that you said you placed this on a red mat, it really doesn't like there would be one. I would think reading the description the photo would contain many more red highlights. I think you did an excellent job capturing the bubbles. I think a lot of the voters who counted down on images where the bubbles were not all 100% clear did not try to take a photo of bubbles. I think you did a great job capturing the soda with the moving bubbles. I love that you used the cherry in the image to break up the colors and draw attention in. The glow produced by the bubbles on the left hand side is very visually pleasing. It would be really cool, if all the bubbles looked this way. I also like the placement of the cherry, not perfectly in the center of the image. Great composition and good job! |
