Dusky Pulsating Cityby DigiFotoBuddyComment: *Critique Club*
"Dusky Pulsating City" is a very attention grabbing entry into the DPC Cinema challenge.
The first thing that grabs my attention is the bright city lights. You did an excellent job capturing the colors of the lights in balance to the sunset. Unfortunately the some of the brighter lights draw attention to the focus being a little off, possibly the camera was bumped. I think if the clarity was stronger it would have helped the score.
It was interesting to see more of a landscape shot not in the long length way most shots are done. I think if you had gone with a longer width you might have lost the interesting greenish building down towards the bottom.
I think this challenge was a little harder because voters, like myself but a little more emphasis on the subject. I personally looked at the shots for the photographic quality and also the believability as a movie. Your was more interesting as a movie because of the title you gave it, so defiantly good work on the title.
Overall nice work and I look forward to your future entries. |

Documentary - Pollen Catchersby bryantbusComment: *Critique Club*
"Documentary - Pollen Catchers" is an good entry into the DPC Cinema challenge.
The overall image is a nice macro/close up. Great focus and clarity to draw the viewers eye right onto the bee. The image looks very sharp, the wings almost look unreal. The background looks a little noisy for me, but of course that might have been what you were going for. Looking at your profile and other work I think you might have been going for this approach, with the sharp almost noisy image. I really do like the close up, we can really see the bee in great detail.
I think this challenge was a little harder because voters, like myself but a little more emphasis on the subject. I personally looked at the shots for the photographic quality and also the believability as a movie. I was a little torn on the title since you used the word Documentary for the D, but in the end it did not take away from the score I gave.
Overall nice close up and I look forward to your future entries. |

Deep Purple Cloudsby jerseyjimComment: *Critique Club*
"Deep Purple Clouds" in an interesting idea for the DPC Cinema challenge.
The image itself is very striking from the cool smooth coloring. I really love how rich and deep the purples are. The composition is very nice and I like the include of the ground so it doesn't look like a floating sky shot. Overall I think you have a very nice image.
The scoring in this challenge was very different from the norm. I personally looked at the photo for its quality first and second which was a big piece of my scoring was does this look like a movie and if so is it a convincing? Unfortunately I think that might have been what happened with your scoring on this piece. You have a wonderful shot but as for a movie its a little hard to believe.
I think you have a great eye and I hope you keep up your good work!

Desert Nightlifeby jdannelsComment: *Critique Club*
"Desert Nightlife" is an amazing entry into the Night Shot III challenge. Top seven percent and 20th place, very well deserved. Congratulations.
The first thing that grabbed my attention was the colors, they are very beautiful for a night shot. The clarity is very excellent especially with a long exposure shot. The composition is prefect. You have done wonderful work here.
After reading your comments I am surprised this is not the desert. The image defiantly looks like a prefect desert card. I would be curious to see the original since you mentioned adjusting the temperature, but I am sure the blue/purple was much more of a night color.
Again congrats and I look forward to your future entries. |
