Purple heavenby purpleflutterby13Comment: Very interesting, it really makes me wonder if this is the natural color. Nice job not centering the flowers. |

Dream rideby ValdoComment: *Critique Club*
"Dream ride" was a good entry into the Street Photography challenge. I know this was defiantly not something that I would have expected to see in the challenge, which is always a compliment.
At first glance the image draws you in because there is so much to see, unfortunately I think this takes away from the focus that should be on our subject. I think you had a great concept, and I bet it was extremely hard to capture this at night and its not like you could just ask them to move the calandria. I think based on this shot you might have tried to leave the color in, to help the focus. Also I would be curious to see it cropped a little tighter to take out some of the distraction. I think you did a very good job working with the limited light you probably had.
Overall I think you did an excellent job finding a subject that is different. Looking at your portfolio you defiantly have cool perspectives and I look forward to your future entries. |

Seberityby actnoutComment: *Critique Club*
"Seberity" is a great first attempt at the challenges here at DPC. It is amazing the amount you learn by entering these challenges, and you have taken the hardest step in my opinion by putting your first piece out there.
I think you have an excellent subject here. This looks like an extremely peaceful place to relax. I think the very best thing you did with this piece was to frame up the shot with the tree and branches. The focus seems little soft, maybe you were trying to minimize the movement in the water. I think for my vote personally, I would have probably voted higher if there was more focus on one point. Also I would be really curious to see this shot from ground, more of an angle that makes the trees look over powering.
Overall this was a nice first entry I look forward to your future entries.

Migraineby shansanoComment: *Critique Club*
Wow for only two challenges it looks like you are off to a really good start. Congrats on doing really well to start out!
"Migraine" is a prefect title for this piece, it really looks like a image for a Excedrin ad. I think your choice to have a tight frame, almost make the viewer feel uncomfortable and is prefect for the subject. Also your choice of the strong lighting gives it a much more emotional feeling. The shadows really enhance the feeling.
Honestly I am not sure what would have made this photo score higher because it is an extremely strong piece. I think this might just be a photo that was overlooked during voting or maybe voters were getting burnt out voting on some bad photos.
Keep up your good work!

Gazing upon our own reflectionby posthumousComment: *Critique Club*
Wow I guess voters really did pick up on the mushroom not being a vegetable. I really didn't even think about that when I was voting. But based on the comments I wonder if people really didn't vote as high because of this.
"Gazing upon our own reflection" is a good entry into the Fruit and Vegetable Challenge, heck all the mushrooms I buy are in the produce department. I really think your lighting allows this image to stand out. The lighting really gives us more depth to the focal point. I also really like the placement of the focus, not a typical shot, very nice. I think your choice for the background is awesome because it really is something different. I am not sure if you used the screen for lighting purposes but it really adds a nice feature to the shot.
Overall I think this is a very strong shot, maybe the score would have been a little higher is the challenge was something like The Produce Section, or Mushrooms. Very nice work as usual.

Morningby coryxmortonComment: *Critique Club*
Wow looks like you are off to a good start, this being your first challenge you did a great job.
"Morning" is a good entry into Shallow DOF III because it is something different I am not a coffee or tea drinking so I would not thing of something like this. Interesting choice to go with black and white. I am guessing the colors would have been distracting and you choose to keep the image simple, which I think works well. I like the angle you are shooting at, we are not directly above or that straight on table shot. Just based on the comments you received it seems like the general voter population would have liked the whole cup in focus. I think it really is a challenge to determine which part stays in focus and ultimately it is up to us taking the photo.
Overall very nice work, especially for a first try! I really look forward to more of your photos.
