I can't get over the story that you've posted along with this image. And in the middle of what must have been a terrifying experience , you had the creative foresight to document it. Wow. I would love to see this in black and white, with some attention paid to enhancing the mood through light and shadow. The eyes really tell the tale here. Hope that you're well now. :)
