I find it interesting that so many people are so thrown off by the writing... to me it only added an element to the scene. Perhaps because I have a curious tendency, my thought would be what was the entire word... if it had been an entirely distinguishable word, THAT might have thrown me off. I would not change a thing about this submission... except perhaps maybe that it had done better.

I love the happenstance story behind the submission. Thanks for sharing!

I think I loved this photo for precisely the reason some others were commenting in a negative fashion. I like that you CAN'T see whose stone he is looking at, and the fact that you can't see his face but the body posture evokes grief and almost a moment of silence. The title is perfect and it is definitely blue ribbon material by my standards.
