The only high contrast I see is a blown out forehead which is probably from an on-camera flash. Move the flash off-camera, work on the overall exposure, and use a controlled background, maybe solid white with this shot, and it might've worked better.

Nice work on this. Not only a good capture of some bright contrast on the child's face, but also the child's personality. The DOF is also really good to keep all attention on the girl. Excellent photo.
