What a fun moment you've captured. Dogs and surfers go hand in hand.. one of my fav. parts of hanging on a beach watching the surfers is being able to play with all the dogs who wait so patiently for their people to come in from the waves.

I love that you've even been able to keep the small detail of the sand falling from the dogs paw... great job (agreed with it being so bright behind the two) thats not easy I wouldnt imagine.

Kidding..seriously great shot P. I agree the cigarette adds to the shot. I really like her position in the picture with the free space behind and away from where her body is facing.. it gives a sense of the moment.. and her expression is interesting.. in that its hard to tell what she is thinking.. a little mystery is always a good thing.

*edit to add* I just ran across the thumb and Sassy is what came to mind.. she has sass in them there peepers of hers.
