Behind Barsby SheryllComment: This could use a little sharpening. If I may be so bold as to suggest a method, I would suggest the Adamus technique. I learned it myself a few months ago after seeing another photo on DPC. Its pretty simple.
After doing all your edits on the full size photo, resize the photo to twice the size of desired size. Apply the sharpening filter 2 or 3 times. The photo will looks like a mess, but it will turn out. After sharpening, resize the photo to the final size, and you have some nice sharpness.
Of course, my instructions are assuming you have Photoshop. |

The Big Dipperby SheryllComment: The exposure is excellent, no star trails, but still enough shutter to expose the stars. Great colour in the sky as well. |

Tryp-3.jpgby SheryllComment: This is a really cool triptych. Great choice of movement in the first photo, the rows of skates in the mid photo is awesome, and the silhouette tops (or bottoms) it off nicely. |

The Ringby denboteComment: Greetings from Critique Club
First, I should say that I like this photo. I think the minimalism is really good, and I love how you lit the shot, using the two pen lights. It is sort of a low cost and effective way for lighting small objects, and you have demonstrated how it works well.
A few critiques about your image. The table and the ring are a little rough. Had they been very smooth I think this would have scored better. Also, I can see the edge of the table in the upper third of the photo. My monitor is set to the brightest I can get it, so if yours is not, I can understand why you may not have seen it. While this is basic editing, and you cannot spot edit, playing with the curves or levels in Photoshop may have minimized it. That being said, I don't think it effected your score.
Overall though, I think its a good photo (I gave it a 6 during voting), and you got a favorite for it, so I think its a successful shot.
