Le Croix Flambéby GeneralEComment: Yea..Thanks Alot from the Critique Club
A random click and I get your brown!! hahaha
What can I say Paul, I think you clearly did in this photo what you set out to do. I appreciate the artistic sentiment expressed by trying to burn a cross in basic editing.
Alot of imagination went into shooting this with an eye to the final result and I have no doubt you did what you wanted.
That said, just really not to my tastes. I am not a fan personally of such abstract pieces, but that said, I do not think the colours really make me "feel" the message of the shot.
I applaud your courage and OTB thinking :) |

Opening my heart again...by MuppetComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Well muppet, no mistaking this one is for the Love Challenge !
Technically this is not a bad shot...the colours are nice and it is fairly in focus.
I think what you need to focus on now is seeing something with a more artistic eye, and that is the hard part! This site is a great place to learn...look at what the winners do, figure out what you like.
This shot suffered because it is simply a pair of objects placed together and shot against a wall with a table lamp. Its not a bad thing, but you can do better! Look at the roses on this site...if you are going to shoot a rose, it has to be special...technically outstanding, wonderfully dramatic...it has to say something. Do you know what I mean?
Place your object in an unusual location, or light it in an unexpected way....go in close and take a dramatic macro, or far away and see how it looks against its surroundings.
You have to do better then simply fitting the challenge. Having an artistic eye is not easy, but take some time, experiment alot, and shot even more..comment on pictures that will help...
Mostly Good Luck and Keep SHooting! |

Why do women hate when we do thisby SomeamateurComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
My first impression of this shot is favorable over all..who doesn't like a zebra!?
As far as composition goes, for me it is so close to being an outstanding shot had you cropped it tighter. I would have gone close to the two heads and cropped into the hind end showing.
The crooked fence post throws the eye off a bit, and I think it is an unnecessary distraction.
I would have liked to see you up the contrast or saturation on this to make those stripes really pop.
Your score is more reflective of not really fitting the challenge then of the shot itself, I would imagine.
Don't feel bad this is great attempt! Keep on shooting :) |

The Moon of Loveby tibisanComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
I congratulate you on the imagination and set up that this shot took. ALtho I will say I immediately saw it as a potato.
The composition is clean and simple and brings good focus to your subject. But I find the whole thing a little OOF.
The use of shadows is nice, but it has an odd colour cast to the entire shot. Perhaps this is on purpose to add to the other wordly feel, but imho it is not that effective here.
Great Imagination! |
