Well, it is hard to call this desolate but I can see where you were taking the shot. I think it is absolutely gorgeous! I don't think there is anything I like better than sunbeams and yours are so dramatic. I really like your choice of the blue duotone. It took me a look or two before I realized that it is not a color shot. The color and surface of the water is great, that is why I would like to see a little more water in the composition because it is so beautiful. That's my only complaint, if you want to call it that.

Hey, how did you get into my fridge?! I bet I'm not the first to say that, am I. But, in my case it's almost true. Slimfast and beer and some milk. Ah, the single life :)

Beautifully done! Excellent exposure, nice, sharp detail and enough contrast so we can see everything. The door makes the shot for me :) Just perfect in every respect. 10!

I love the single silouette. Composition wise, very good. I think though that perhaps so much was cropped out of the image that the quality of the final shot was comprimised. Of course, I might be completely wrong. :) well done.

If that's a real award, I think someone should be flogged for creating it. Nothing like "devistating" the heart of a youngster. Very nice play into the topic. Pretty good photography too :)

I like the clarity and contrast. The sepia makes it look like everything is covered in dust. Very nice!

Hi Ed, I have to say that this is my favorite. First of all, the PS work is seemless but I love the message and the irony. Beautifully composed. Oh, and the shadows! Brilliant. Congratulations on your placement.

You colorized this somehow because I see a lot of unnatural pink/red but I like it.

It has a very strange look. The green on the water looks as though it is glowing, giving the appearance of toxic waste and a very desolate place. It is a little dark for me, I would like to be able to make out the structures a little better.

Wonderful! "cry me a river". Beautiful calm water. I think the sky is just a little too light for the rest of the photo but you can't do anything about it for the contest. My favorite thing to do in cases like this, if my polarizer filter doesn't help with the exposure is to use my graduated gray filter. It would have worked well here. I can't wait to find out where this was taken, it's such a beautiful, calm water.
