Newcastle Sunsetby AndyLeeG4Comment: This is just a little underexposed. Not much sun for a sunset. The framing is good and I like the perspective - Inspzil |

Solitudeby stephanComment: Good mood set on this one. Barn is a little too centered for my taste. Good shot though - Inspzil |

Land, Sea, and Skyby kposeyComment: This pic is underexposed quite a bit. It looks like it might have been a good picture a little more in the daytime. - Inspzil |

Down the valleyby amnonComment: The scene below is nice. The sky part though is a little too colorless. The greens stand out well. - Inspzil |

Wall of Winterby YomiComment: That is one cool picture. I can't say I've ever seen a frozin waterfall. Now I have. Well captured. It's very picturesque. I think this acually could stand to be panned back a little. It would make the falls a trite smaller, but open up room to show some other vegetation or something of color. Good luck and thanks for sharing this - Inspzil |

We want to go to Florida! Help get us out of the winter wonderland.by MorganComment: Critique Club Critique by Inspzil
Composition - I didn't rate this pic very high the first time mostly due to the composition. I don't find anything related to the challenge outside of the title. You're right, you didn't crop the pic too tight and by not cropping it you leave much mess in the background. I do not believe in the washed out snow theory. Snow is white, and by God, it looks white in the picture. Imagine that? This is a very simple snapshot in my opinion. There isn't anything about it to show me anything besides that. Sorry!
Photography - Seems about the right exposure. Snow is not the easiest thing to serve as a backdrop in pictures though. When you leave too much of it though, it dominates the picture. This is not poorly taken, just not very well set-up.
Processing - Not really applicable
Overall - I don't really like the picture. I don't find much artistic merit to it. I don't feel it really meets the challenge. Stand the man out there in a speedo and you have a stranger in a strange land. Sorry I can't be more helpful but there really isn't a lot to build on. Best advice I have is keep shooting and good luck in future challenges. This pic would look great in your family album though. - Inspzil |

House in the Snowby nathaliedooComment: The choice of white border with that washed out sky is very, very questionable. If there was any doubt to if the sky was washed out, you've taken that away. I dislike these little wallet size pics as well. Technically though, the sky is washed out, the framing could be better, the crop could be tighter to eliminate some of the foreground distractions. The color tone of the pic is pretty nice though. Good luck - Inspzil |

See You Later, Aligator... (Bill Haley)by miss parkerComment: Critique Club by Inspzil
Composition - It is very difficult to tell what it is without the title. This pic is almost clear, but not quite and photos like this suffer on dpc. This is a strange perspective for this picture. It it were taken a little further back and included more of the croc's face it would've been better. Maybe a 3/4 view where we could see both eyes. The small size of the pic doesn't help nor does the large border. It makes the pic seem even smaller.
Photography - The picture is slightly out of focus. A major strike for this type of "macro". At the ISO it was shot, it is minimally grainy. It was a pretty long exposure too which is leading me to believe that is the reason for the focus problem.
Processing - Not much to speak of here
Overall - I can see both sides of the fence on this one now that I have some exif data to reference. On one hand, the general composition is not that bad. I would prefer to see it differently, but I see where you were going with this. On the other hand, the softer focus is hurting you. If this pic was not taken right under the beast's nose, the soft focus might not hurt so bad. A shallow DOF (like a macro) doesn't seem like it works real well with an alligator or croc taken from the front since his snout is so long. This has a lot of potential, but there are a few things that need honing to make this a really good pic. - Inspzil |
