Screaming for attentionby unnevaComment: Hmmm. Excellent photograph. Don't know what to say beyond that. It's not my thing. Screaming must be spontaneous or suggested by circumstance. Beyond that, it's like making faces in the mirror. Which is purely one man's humble opinion, and speaks not at all to the photographic technique, which strikes my untrained eye as exceptional. |

I've shot a lot of flower. They're such well behaved models and cheap too, with a beauty from which few can detract. An excellent image that is what one would see exactly. That is my only issue. I like to be startled, even by a flower.
However excellent the technique, I am not getting that wow response. It is likey only me. Excellent photography. |

This is what I would expect to see in a gallery. Very nice, well executed. I lack only for the ice or snow more visible lower frame. Maybe there was none. Nevertheless, tonal quality consistent with concept and clarity is outstanding. Very enjoyable image. |

Family Treeby RockBruiseComment: I am new here and relatively so to serious photography; so, I will offer only my response, not a critique.
I like the mood of this picture a great deal. The straggly tree works with the wire fence in front and the whole is well balances, especially in tonal qualities working with the image effectively.
Nice work! |

Twilight, Steamboat Bayby jemisonComment: Wow. Nice photograph. There is nothing terribly unique here conceptually. But where is there something new conceptually. For what it presents, it is extremely compelling and is a shot I would love to say I had taken. Right time, right place, right technique as far as my amature eye can discern. Outstanding shot. |

Oh my, what a lovely lady. The overall image however, is not quite as convincing. Why? I don't know. Maybe the skin coloring is missing the glimmer and delicacy to balance the image. I can't comment on technical issues beyond my technical level. So I can say it comes close to what I imagine would be elegant naughty, but admit that it may be right on technically and visually for others. |

This is very cool. It presses into artistic surrealism and does so with confident strokes. Excellent. |

Trombone Slide Detailby moonwellComment: I am new here and relatively so to serious photography; so, I will offer only my response, not a critique.
I like the concept alot! The detail is impecable.
Why is the trombone wet?
It's almost like seeing a nude perfectly at ease, purportedly covered in sweat - it is wonderful to see when done well, but better if there is some cogent explanation to carry the photo beyond impact and into an experience.
It could be oil. It almost looks like shaving from a lathe or other mill work in the tray below. But there is no indication of what that is about either.
But this is photography, not fiction, and there needn't always be a plot structure, right? On image alone you have my top mark so far. Well done. |

Wee Shackby RolandBComment: I am new here and relatively so to serious photography; so, I will offer only my response, not a critique.
The photo deserves top marks for its clarity, coloration and general composition. Were it not for a well manicured lawn I would be greatly taken it. I envision abandoned shacks discovered standing near still water beautifully preserved. Alas, this does it visually, but for me, it a let down conceptually.
But, man oh man in that reflection perfect or what?! Very inspiring photo and a craft lesson I hope to learn. |
